Classic French Binding by Folksaga Classic French Binding by Folksaga
This is the first Classic French binding I have made.
The paper is marbled by me, however I am not happy with the result of that... And it doesn't help that I don't really like the comb marbling pattern either (but is a must when doing the classic french binding). I had a hard time with the marbling and little time to practice. I hope to have better results with tub marbling in autumn when I go back to school :)

The leather corners are too small for the classic binding as well but I can't change that now unfortunately :(

Anyway before you think I'm super negative I will say that I am happy with the rest of the book! :)

*pant, pant!* This is very professional work! When I think "fine binding" this is exactly what I picture. I take your point about the marbled papers being authentic to the style, but I say you should cut loose and use what seems best to you in future! Keep up the high standard - you have a real talent for this!

Thank you so much!
It sure is great to cut loose and just do whatever I want but when it is a school assignment I want to do it right! ;) I will do more of my own style when I go back to school during my free time though :D

oh but I love the marble! I've never had a chance to try it, since my teachers think it's too complicated to try in class, but I'd love to someday

I've done one french binding and I found it very difficult.. this looks amazing!

If you have enough space, maybe you could try marbling at home? I'm sure there are books about it :) I wanted to experiment with marbling all summer but unfortunately I ended up short on space. Will pick it up again this fall when school starts! :)

Yeah french binding is insane. So many crazy steps, details and rules to keep track of. But fun! :)

Damn! I was hoping you were selling this one. Ah, well. Next time, maybe. And if you're selling come fall, that means I'll definitely have some cash for them. Looking forward to it!
